Following last months debacle at the Red Mosque where government troops killed one hundred people, there have been mass protests, riots, and suicide bombings destabilizing the portions of the country the military controls.

The Guardian has coverage of the issue where dictatorial General Prevez Musharraf is becoming increasingly unpopular and is facing threats to his government for all quarters. There is wide spread civil unrest in the parts of Pakistan he tries to control while the Taliban and al Qaeda rule parts that he cannot. The latter issue brings greater and greater pressure from the United States with candidates on both sides of 2008 presidential election calling for strikes inside Pakistan with or without permission.
