Deal Struck On Immigration Bill newsvine furl google yahoo netscape

Left for dead, the Immigration bill apparently can't be counted out after all. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have announced that a deal has been struck to bring the bill back to the floor.

"We met this evening with several of the Senators involved in the immigration bill negotiations," Senate Majority leader Harry Reid and his Republican counterpart Senator Mitch McConnell said in a joint statement.

"Based on that discussion, the immigration bill will return to the Senate floor after completion of the energy bill."

It has been rumored that the deal will include additional money for border security. We'll see what amendments end up being offered and how much pork ends up being tacked on before the bill passes.
